What is Hi-Lo & how to play
Hi-Lo (Higher or Lower) is a fast provably-fair card game. A card is shown, and you bet whether the next card drawn from a 52-card deck will be higher or the same, or lower or the same. Each bet has its own multiplier set by how likely it is: betting higher on a low card is nearly certain and pays little, while betting higher on a King is a long shot and pays big. Get it right and you can cash out or keep riding the streak, multiplying your winnings card after card. There's no skill in the draw — the next card is a fixed, random, provably-fair result — so the whole game is reading the odds, which is exactly what the calculator above does. A round in four steps:
- See the current card and its two multipliers.
- Bet higher-or-same or lower-or-same with your stake.
- Draw. If you called it right you win bet × that side's multiplier.
- Cash out or continue — ride the streak to stack multipliers, or bank your win.
Hi-Lo odds & probability
Hi-Lo odds are exact deck arithmetic. With Ace high, a card of rank v has (14−v)×4 cards above it, (v−2)×4 below it, and 4 of its own rank in a 52-card deck. Since the "same" rank wins both bets:
So on a 2 a "higher-or-same" bet wins 100% of the time (pays 0.99×), on an 8 both sides are about 53.8% (1.84×), and on an Ace a "higher-or-same" bet wins just 7.7% (12.87×). The lower the chance, the bigger the multiplier — in exact inverse proportion. Open the Odds table tab for every card.
How this Hi-Lo calculator works

Multiply the win chance by the multiplier and you always get about 0.99 — a flat 1% house edge on every card and both sides. Pick any card and you get the same numbers the game would show.
Can you predict or hack Hi-Lo?
No — and it's provable. Each next card is committed cryptographically from the server seed, your client seed and a nonce before you bet. The card is fixed the instant you choose a side; nothing can change or reveal it early. That means:
- A Hi-Lo predictor or "signals" bot can't know a card that is hashed and hidden — it's guessing with your money, and the 1% edge guarantees it loses over time.
- A Hi-Lo hack that promises the next card is a scam; the draw is committed and verifiable, not editable.
- There is no pattern and no "due" card — each draw is fully independent and random.
Hi-Lo strategy & the honest truth
The one real skill in Hi-Lo is always taking the more likely side — bet higher on low cards, lower on high cards. But here's the catch: the multiplier already reflects the exact odds, so the expected return is ~99% no matter which side or card you choose. Card counting doesn't help either, because each draw is from a full fresh 52-card deck — past cards don't change the next one. Riding a long streak stacks multipliers but also compounds the edge, so the longer you push, the more likely you bust before cashing out. There's no system that beats the 1% edge; the only real strategy is deciding when to cash out and keeping bankroll discipline.
Is Hi-Lo rigged? The honest answer
No — but it is not beatable either. Hi-Lo is provably fair: with the revealed server seed, your client seed and the nonce you can recompute exactly which card came next and confirm it wasn't changed after your bet (the Fairness verifier shows the method). What you can't change is the built-in 1% house edge — over the long run you get back about $0.99 per $1 wagered. Fair means honest and verifiable, not profitable.
