On a fair wheel every segment is equally likely, so win chance = winning segments ÷ total. A provably-fair casino sets the multiplier so the return is 99% — the fair multiplier = 0.99 × total ÷ winning segments. If the game pays less than that, the difference is extra house edge.

Casino Wheel odds explained

Beyond a decision spinner, "Wheel" is also a popular provably-fair casino original (you'll see it on Stake and similar sites). The wheel is divided into equal segments, and each segment carries a multiplier — including plenty of 0× (lose) segments. Because every segment is equally likely, the odds are simple to compute:

Win chance = winning segments ÷ total segments. With 20 segments and one paying segment, that's 1/20 = 5%. The rest of the math is just the payout.

Unlike a physical wheel of fortune, a digital wheel isn't weighted — no segment is secretly smaller. That's what makes it verifiable and what lets you calculate the exact odds for any configuration using the Casino wheel odds tab above.

Risk levels and segments

Casino Wheel games usually let you pick a risk level (low, medium, high) and a segment count (often 10, 20, 30, 40 or 50). These only change how the multipliers are spread, never the underlying fairness:

Low risk — most segments pay a small multiplier (like 1.2×–1.5×); few or no total-loss segments. Frequent small wins, low variance.
Medium risk — a mix of small wins, some 0× losses and the occasional bigger multiplier.
High risk — mostly 0× segments with one or two large multipliers (up to 9.9×, 19.8×, 49.5× depending on segments). Rare big hits, high variance.

Across every risk level a well-run wheel targets the same 99% RTP — the multipliers are simply arranged so the average return is identical. Higher risk doesn't cost more per spin; it just makes the swings wilder.

The fair multiplier

Here's the rule that ties it together. For a single winning segment on an N-segment wheel, a fair (0% edge) payout would be exactly N×. A provably-fair casino keeps 1%, so it pays:

Fair multiplier = 0.99 × (total segments ÷ winning segments). Example: 20 segments, 1 winner → 0.99 × 20 = 19.80× (1% house edge). 50 segments, 1 winner → 49.50×.
